Lakeysha Beard boarded a 16 hour train ride in Oakland, California. Lakeysha was talk on her phone the entire time she was on the train even after people complained. The passenger refused to put down her phone, until conductors stopped the train in Salem where the police had to get involved. Lakeysha says she felt disrespected and was accused of disorderly conduct after they said she got into a verbal altercation with another passenger. Also Amtrak (the train Beard was on) doesn't allow cellphones in the quiet cars, which was the car Beard was riding.

Bad tippers, be warned.
Thanks to the Internet the bad tippers are no longer able to get away with leaving stingy gratuities. A frusterated Brooklyn designer and developer Larry Fox, who works at a restuarant deliery person as a side job created a blog expressing his anger about bad tippers. In his blogs he publishes the cutomers first names and street names. Mr. Fox says he is tired of big companies and shows giving him $4 dollar tips for a $90 order. He plans to shame all the companies and institutions which give him bad tips.
I think that this man is over reacting. I believe that what people give him as a tip reflects on his service. I mean yes he could be just cheap but it also invovles how much money the customer actually has. Personally I understand why he would get upset but he cannot take it so personally and be so sensative about it because he has to realize that there are people in the world that will do that and there are some people that wont even tip him, but that is just something he has to deal with.

Is farting on the school bus suspension-worthy?
In Ohio two grade 7 students were suspended from their bus for one day after passing gas. the two kids were given a warning by the bus driver. These kids were reported to their principle by their bus driver for allegedly the display of these "synchronized farts." The mother and father of these children were appalled and took it as a great offence since one of the boys mother had suffered from gastrointestinal issues which inquired her to be hospitalized for a while. Although senior officials in Malawi and other places in the world debate a bill outlawing breaking wind in public, they say it is just as bad as urinating in public.
I personally think this punishment was ridiculous. Young boys often have to break wind and have gas issues, but to suspend a student for breaking wind is obscene. I mean, when it happens, it happens, its not intentional, it's natural. There is no way a place could outlaw passing gas because its inevitable, almost like urination except it doesn't cause damage, harm, or a mark. It is bodily gases which are being let of the body, everyone does it, everyone has done it, and I can guarantee that everyone will do it in the future. You cannot avoid nature

Obesity; another thing you can blame on your mother
Women are constantly being told what to eat, how much to eat, to eat less and to eat more. Although studies show that pregnant women who eat a low-carb healthy diet, most likely put their child at risk of being obese. Apparently women who eat low carbohydrates when they are pregnant show certain changes in their DNA, which is measure in the umbilical cord. genetic changes are known as so-called epigenetic changes. Epigenetic acts kind of like a dial turning up and down the expression of various genes.
I feel as though that women who choose to go on diets when they're pregnant are somewhat selfish. I understand the fact that you're carrying a child, how possibly could you be selfish? Although carrying the child is only the first step to taking a child, and as most mother and fathers will tell you, you must prepare for the future. Knowing these facts and being on a diet so for that 9 months you won't look that big, that is quite selfish. I mean you're pregnant, you're supposed to look big, that's the beauty of it all.
Should circumcision be outlawed?
Imagine not having the choice to have your son to be circumcized. In San Fransisco a group of young men got enough signatures to have a proposed ban on the foreskin-cutting procedure. If the ban is approved then the circumcision of minors would be charged $1,000, or up to one year in prison. This outlaw could cause problems with people who are Jewish because it could violate the First Amendment protection of religious freedom. The World Health Organization recommends circumcision so that it will reduce the spread of HIV. Infant circumcision rates dropped to 32 per cent in 2006 from 47 per cent in 1973.
Should parents be charged if kids aren't wearing bike helmets?
Imagine your child getting hit by a car, and then imagine getting charged for the fact that your child not wearing a helmet. Sucks either way you look at it. Since 1995 the Ontario law states that if you knowingly let your child ride their bicycle without a helmet you could be charged a total charge of $75. This case could possibly lead to bigger cases involving personal freedom and public safety which goes with it. A research showed that from 1991 to 2002 the bicycle related deaths percentage went down 52 per cent, taking the deaths from about 13 to about 6 deaths annually.
I feel as though this argument is pointless. I mean, yes it is important to be safe and you are responsible for your child's safety, but what is the point of making a law on riding your bike. riding your bike is a summer activity in which children should wear protective equipment to be safe but I do not think that the police should get involved whatsoever. Your child's safety is your responsibility, yes, but if your child were to take off their helmet without you knowing, or your child decides to ignore the rules of the road, that shouldn't be charged for it.

Doctors may not see you if you're obese
According to the Sun Sentinel newspaper in Florida some ob-gyn doctors are actually turning away women whom are overweight. Apparently there are higher risks being taken when taking care of a person who is obese. Miami doctor Albert Triana told the news paper “There’s more risk of something going wrong and more risk of getting sued. Everything is more complicated with an obese patient in GYN surgeries and in [pregnancies].” Some doctors say that their equipment and table cannot handle obese patients and it is difficult diagnosing certain problem since the quality of the ultrasounds are not clear.
A doctor is there to help people regardless their weight or gender. In Canada doctors cannot discriminate against patients on their age, gender, medical condition, sexual orientation, or political affiliation. Obese patients need doctors. An obese patient would have no where to be treated if every practice had that policy. Personally I do not believe that doctors should be allowed to deny patients for reasons such as these, I mean doctors are there to improve their quality of life, not stigmatize them according to their weight class.
Blame it on the alcohol
Everyone nowadays are all so concerned about such negative consequences such as traffic accidents, violence or public disorders, although people don't seem to think what negative consequences binge drinking may have on they're brain. A research at Spain’s Universidade de Santiago de Compostela says binge drinking also damages long-term memory. Damage to the hippocampus is a clear association between binge drinking and impaired memory. The hippocampus is a part of the brain which plays a key role in memory formation and it is especially susceptible to alcohol's poisonous effects.

Why no-smoking signs are a waste of space
There was a test done by Mr. Earp where he presented his findings to the British Psychological Society in Glasgow. In his findings it generally showed how that seeing a no smoking sign actually kicks in your nicotine craving and actually makes you want to smoke more while knowing that you can't. If you have a chronically positive attitude towards smoking these signs will most likely boost your craving by reminding you of smoking and getting that thought into your head. I is like telling you to not think of a pink elephant, but the thing you think of is a pink elephant.
Bin Laden's Death
President Barrack Obama was given some information which could possible lead to finding Osama Bin Laden. Obama did not want to act on this mission until he had enough information to make sure that it was really Bin Laden. Once Obama felt that they had enough information to infiltrate. A special team of 25 trained Navy Seals were dropped in by 4 helicopters to a private compound in Islamabad. There were no video cameras on the mission so we had no idea which was going for about 25 minutes until they reported back saying "Geronimo EKIA [Enemy Killed In Action]." and President Obama added: "We got him." Three men and one women were killed excluding Osama, while 2 women were injured with 17 to 18 people living in the compound.
This moment will go down in history and forever will be remembered as a day of rejoicement. The battle may be won although the war is far from over. Osama may be dead although I believe that there are people out there are as 'evil' or even more so than Osama. Some say that they think Osama did what he tried to do by gaining money and taking money from the western continents and western European countries.

Bribing kids for bedtime
1 in 5 parents admitted to bribing their children to go to bed. Out of the parents which bribe their children 28% let there kids watch "a bit more" TV, 17% promised a later bedtime on the weekend, 6% bribe with sweets and candy's. Parents think that giving into their demands is just much easier than battling them throughout the night.
Personally I believe that parents shouldn't have give into their children. I believe that making a deal with your children gives them a sense that it is possible for them to get what they want, which ultimately makes your child somewhat spoiled. A child can kick and scream all he wants but giving in is all apart of they're plans, and the last time I checked a little discipline never hurt anyone.

Should children be allowed to get plastic surgery?
A seven year old girl was allowed by her mom to get plastic surgery to get her ears pinned back. Her mother said "This was a preventative way, so she wouldn't get bullied". The young girl was happy about the surgery and says "I really don't like people asking me about my ears." The mother also acknowledged the fact that her fellow adults were meaner than their children. It seems as though that more teenagers are seeking to get plastic surgery the help their self esteem and to avoid bullying.

Should Canada ban Islamic face veils?
Today in France a new law banning Islamic face veils was put into action. Two women have already been detained for protesting against this new law. Anyone who forces a woman to wear a face veil can be put in jail for up to a year. Wearing one of these face veils will cost you a fine of 150 euros. There is many arguements about whether or not Canada should inforce a law similar to the one the French have inforced.

A new kind of cookie monster
Hersha Howard, busted through the doors of roomates room after noticing that her Thin Mints have been eaten. Howard accused her roomate Jasmin Wanke of eating the without asking. Although Wanke told Howard that she had given them to Ms. Howards children once they awoke and were hungry at 1 am. Howard allegedly viciously attacked her Wanke by hitting her in the face, biting her breast, chasing her around the appartment with scissors, and hitting her with a board and a sign. Howard was charged with aggrivated battery with a deadly weapon.
I personally think this is ridiculous. I mean a woman with children should have more patients and dignity for herself then to just brutally attack her roommate over nothing more than just an empty box of girl guide cookies. I mean to get upset over things like this is fine but it seems asthough that Howard was trying to kill Ms. Wanke over a box of cookie. Although I don't believe that something like this has happened.

The big secret has been revealed.
Coke's secret recipe which has been kept secret since John Pemberton first created way back in 1886. Apparently a photo of this recipe had been revealed back in 1979 but apparently no one noticed.

Would you choose your dog over a romantic relationship?
On the eve of Valentine's day a poll went out surveying 3,000 people asking if they would have a relationship with a person over their dog. 80 percent said that they would not like to have a relation ship with someone who did not like there dog. 12 percent said that owning a dog or a cat damages or puts a damper on the relationship, and almost 20 percent said that would rather have a dog companion over a relationship.
Politican caught cheating?
According to Craiglist, Christopher Lee is "very fit fun classy". He is a devorced lobbyst who has had some dissappointments with the ladies. Although Christopher is actually a father, husband and a Republican New York. Most know for his push on family values and his stance against federal funding of abortion. Once the story got out Christopher immediately resigned because he says the challenges we face in Western New York are too serious for these distrcations to occur.

The more mom works, the heavier the child: study
A study by researchers at American University, Cornell University, and the University of Chicago all found that the more a mother works for the duration of their child's life, the more their child's BMI (body mass index) rose. Studies are taken from 900 elementary school children from 10 different cities in the United States. The findings were strongest with 5th and 6th graders. researchers suggested that the reasoning for these results are because parents have less time to buy groceries and worry about nutritional food.

Smoking habits could be passed down through gender roles
The Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics has done a study that there is a possibility that if a father smokes then there is a bigger chance of his son being a smoker and vice versa for mothers and daughters. the studies show there is a 24 percent chance for boys to become smokers if their parents are and a 12 percent chance if they're not. for girls there is a 23 percent chance to become a smoker if their parents are smokers and a 12 percent chance if they are not.
Mothers are portrayed as neutering, caring, beautiful women in the eyes of their children mainly daughters. Fathers are portrayed as tough, manly, intelligent men in the eyes of the of their children. The influence we have on our children is greater than we sometimes think. Our children just want to grow up and make us proud, and they think acting like us will do so. Girls will put on make up, and boys pretend to shave because those products and routines happen so frequently that they are commonly found in the average home making children think they are okay. This study is just children being influenced by the wrong things by their parents. if parents did not show there children that they need to smoke to be happy or do it so often then children will not think they will need to do it to be just like their old man.
How far will you go to break up with someone?
What is the farthest you'll go to break up with your girlfriend? An immigration officer in the UK put his wife's name into a list of suspected terrorists. As his wife was travelling to visit family back in Pakistan on her way home she was denied entry by airline and immigration officials, when she asked why they refused to tell her. The woman went back to Pakistan and had to live there for 3 years because of this incident. The deed was discovered because the man came up for promotion and a vetting inquiry discovered his wife's name on the suspects list. After questioning the man confessed and was fired ever since.
Personally I believe that this is a immature sick way of going about it. First off, this man has ruined her life by doing this. Second off he does not have the maturity level to be a man and divorce her. My question is really how did they not noticed this earlier then having her to wait 3 years till she was able to re-enter the country?

Iran hangs man who claims he is God

Report Cards on Parenting
A work you are given evaluations which review your skills, work ethic and attitude in a day to day work environment. Now can you imagine receiving a report card which grades you on your parenting skills? This is a proposal from the Florida State representative, Kelli Stargel, which she hopes her peers will adopt. This report card would be called the Parent Involvement and Accountability in Public Schools bill, this would grade parents from grade pre-school to grade three to see if their parenting skills are "satisfactory, need improvement, or unsatisfactory".
I believe this is a new innovative idea which will shape us or break us. Although, my concern is that the teachers will not have a well enough understanding of the life at home. My suggestion is that this report card is given to the parents by the student and teacher so that way they will have a more accurate grade. I believe that is a good idea which will open the eyes of parents and better understand their child and their needs.

Blast In Moscow
A blast in Moscow killed 31 people, and wounded about 130. President Medvedev first suggests it was an act of terrorism. Domodedovo, one of the busiest airports in Moscow and regarded as Moscow's generally most up-to-date airport although their security has come into question.“The bomb might have been in the luggage," a police officer told the Itar-Tass new agency. The blast left at least 20 of the wounded are in critical condition.
In my opinion I don't think that the blast should have ever occurred. If the Domodedovo is one of the busiest and most up-to-date airports in Moscow then why is the security not at the same level. In the past Domodedovo have been a victim of these acts of terrorism, and they will keep occurring if they don't step up their security.
